The Secret to Sustainable Success

One of the significant benefits of investing in the business of creating better health is reaching the point where you no longer need to trade your vitality for success. This happens when you are no longer trading your time for money.

Of course, this requires an initial investment of time and effort, but once you achieve this milestone, it's incredibly rewarding.

My Journey to Independence

I started working in the NHS in 2002. Beginning as a graduate Physiotherapist and progressing to a Senior Physio, I loved my job and the people. However, I valued my well-being more. I was ending every day exhausted, dissatisfied, and dreading going to work every morning. Illogical rotas, bureaucracy, and hierarchy were sucking the life out of me. There wasn't enough positivity for the balance I needed in my life.

By then, my commitment to delivering better health and wellness to those I served was an unstoppable force. In 2007, I made the brave (or perhaps wise) decision to leave my promising NHS career and focus solely on growing and creating my own business. I completely redefined my career to align with my passion for business and health.

Twelve years later, I began mentoring others on the business of delivering their vision for better health, having discovered my passion for training, teaching, and helping people transform their lives and those of others through the creation of better health businesses.

The Mistake of Misplaced Passion

A common mistake I hear from many aspiring health entrepreneurs is, "I’m not passionate about business."

Let me share a secret: you don’t need to be passionate about business. You only need to be passionate about what your vision for better health can do for you and those you serve. Your business is simply a vehicle to help you achieve your goals.

Even if you're unsure of your purpose, freeing yourself from conforming with the current broken systems will create the space to figure it out. Initially, I managed my business development while juggling a full-time job, which is feasible provided you have the right knowledge and processes in place. However, as I acquired more responsibilities, I fell into the "burnout trap," essentially trading my NHS job for a job managing stress.

Eventually, I hired others to guide my business journey, which granted me the energy and focus I sought. Investing in my own visions has been a game-changer for my professional life, and it can be for yours too.

Remember, building a business to deliver better health is not just about marketing or finance; it is about gaining the stamina and clarity needed to excel in your own business.
